The short version
FraudAngel exists to protect you from scams, not to collect data about you. We keep the minimum needed to run the service. We never sell your data. Your text messages and phone calls are checked on your phone and never leave it. Anything you choose to send us for a scam check is deleted from our servers within 24 hours.
Who we are
FraudAngel is operated by Megalancer LLC, Franklin, Tennessee, USA. Questions: privacy at fraudangel dot com.
What we collect and why
Account. Your name, and if you provide them, your email address and phone number. If you joined through a family invite, we create your account with just your name. We use these to sign you in, to connect you with family members, and to send you alerts.
Scam checks you ask for. When you tap Check, Scan It, use the share button, or Tell Me What Happened, the content you choose to submit (text, a link, a screenshot, or a voice recording) is sent to our servers so we can analyze it. We use AI services (Anthropic and OpenAI) to help analyze it; they process it to return a result and do not use it to train their models. We keep the short result (for example "Likely scam: fake delivery text") in your history so you can look back at it. The original screenshot or recording is deleted from our servers within 24 hours.
Family Guard. If you connect with a family member, the person you chose as your guardian can see the results of your scam checks and gets an alert when something looks dangerous. They do not see your texts, calls, photos, or anything you did not run through FraudAngel. You can disconnect at any time in the Family tab.
Device information. A push notification token so we can send alerts, your app version, and the platform (iPhone or Android).
What stays on your phone
Scam call blocking uses Apple's Call Blocking & Identification feature. FraudAngel downloads a list of known scam numbers to your phone. Your iPhone compares incoming calls to that list on the device. We never see who calls you.
On Android, scam call blocking uses Android's call screening feature in the same way: the list of scam numbers is on your phone, and we never see who calls you.
Scam text filtering uses Apple's Text Message Filter feature. Your iPhone shows an Apple warning saying the developer "will receive" messages from unknown senders; this is Apple's standard wording for every filter app. In FraudAngel's case, the filter runs entirely on your phone using a downloaded list of scam senders and phrases. Your text messages are never uploaded to us or to anyone else.
What we do not do
We do not sell or rent your data. We do not show ads. We do not read your messages, listen to your calls, or look at your photos unless you deliberately send one to us for a scam check. We do not share your data with anyone except the service providers needed to run FraudAngel (hosting, AI analysis, push notifications), who are bound to use it only for that purpose.
How long we keep things
Submitted screenshots and recordings: deleted within 24 hours. Check results and alerts: kept until you delete them or delete your account. Account details: kept until you delete your account. Scam number and phrase lists: these are about scammers, not about you, and are kept to protect everyone.
Deleting your account
Open FraudAngel, tap your profile circle at the top right of Home, scroll down, and tap Delete my account. Full steps: fraudangel.com/delete-account. Everything tied to your account is removed within 30 days, apart from anything we are legally required to keep. You can also email privacy at fraudangel dot com from the address on your account.
Children
FraudAngel is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. A guardian may use FraudAngel to protect a family member of any age, but the account must be set up by an adult.
Security
Data travels encrypted (HTTPS). Passwords are stored hashed. Sign-in tokens are tied to a single device and can be revoked by signing out. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect what we hold.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will show a notice in the app. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
